My 1 day itinerary for Macau was supposed to be a tour of the cultural sites (Lagro de Senado, St. Paul’s Church, and the like) but we ended up in Sands and Venetian the whole day. But don’t get me wrong! I’m not a gambler!
We arrived in Macau Ferry Station at about 10:30am. There were lots of tourist guides offering us to tour around but it’s very expensive. This is one of Macau’s tourist traps indeed! So, we just didn’t mind them and proceeded to the exit. We boarded the free shuttle bus of Sands Casino and we arrived there after 5 minutes ride. One good thing about Macau is you can tour around using the free shuttle buses of casinos.
Having heard of good reviews about the Sands Buffet before, we went to the casino’s front desk to ask where the restaurant was located. The front desk staff invited us to apply for free Sands Membership so we can have dining discounts. We got our membership cards in minutes and we were told by front desk staff that aside from the restaurant discount benefit, the card is preloaded with free MOP100.00 (Macau Pataca 100.00 = HK$100.00) betting money which we can use in Sands Casino (MOP50.00) and in it’s sister company, Venetian Casino (MOP50.00). How cool is that!
For a buffet costing not more than MOP200.00, you can already have different kinds of crabs, prawns, oysters, sushi, steaks, chinese foods, juice drinks, and desserts! The food is really great! We ate and ate for about two hours there.
After satisfying our hungry stomachs, we proceeded to the casino to use the free MOP50.00 betting money preloaded in the card. I played a slot machine game and won about MOP30.00 which is not really bad. But if you come to think of it, I already lost MOP20.00 in the game if the betting money came from my own pocket. =)
At 3:30pm, we boarded the Venetian bus in the coach area of Sands. We arrived in the world’s largest casino in 30 minutes. The Venetian Macau is really huge, it’s an integrated complex with a big casino, a big mall, multiple venue halls, and hotel. We gambled the free MOP50.00 betting money and then roamed around the mall.
